Quiz Creation
- Content you provide: URLs, documents (PDF, DOCX, PPT), and text you submit for quiz generation
- Generated quizzes: Questions, answers, and associated metadata
- Uploaded images: Figures and images extracted from your documents
Quiz Playing
- Player name: The display name you choose when playing
- Quiz attempts: Your answers, scores, and completion times
- Leaderboard data: Rankings and performance metrics
Automatically Collected
- Device information: Browser type, operating system, screen size
- Usage data: Pages visited, features used, interaction patterns
- IP address: For security and approximate location (country level)
How We Use Your Data
Your data powers the Zapply experience:

AI Services & Data Processing
Zapply uses artificial intelligence to generate quizzes from your content. Here are the AI services we use:
When you submit content for quiz creation:
- Your content (text, documents, URLs) is sent to these AI services for processing
- AI providers may temporarily process your data according to their privacy policies
- We use API-level access, meaning your data is not used to train AI models
- Processed results are stored in our database; raw content may be discarded after processing

Third-Party Services
We use trusted third-party services to operate Zapply:
Data shared with third parties:
- Firebase/Google Cloud: All quiz and user data is stored on Google's infrastructure
- Cloudflare: Web traffic passes through Cloudflare for performance and security
- YouTube: When you create a quiz from a YouTube video, we fetch publicly available transcripts
Data Storage & Retention
Where we store your data:
- All data is stored on Google Cloud servers (Firebase)
- Images are stored in Firebase Storage
- Data may be replicated across multiple regions for reliability
How long we keep your data:
- Quizzes: Stored indefinitely until you delete them
- Quiz attempts: Stored for leaderboard functionality
- Uploaded documents: Processed and typically not retained after quiz generation
- Analytics data: Aggregated and anonymized after 26 months
Data Security: We use industry-standard encryption (TLS) for data in transit and at rest. Access to production data is restricted and logged.
Your Rights
You have control over your data:
- Access: Request a copy of your data
- Deletion: Delete your quizzes and associated data
- Correction: Update or correct your information
- Portability: Export your quiz data
- Objection: Opt out of certain data processing
